OBIEE 11g Yay! OBIEE 11g First Impressions

Hi Colleagues,

I happen to visit a OB IEE 11g  Beta evangelistic conference, it was beautiful and @ one of our client locations.

It happens to be that I was a part of the first impressions .

Here are my Ideas & a screen print also.

Firstly it has a great Look & Feel,  Kudos to the new graph rendering engine which is Oracle native.

I guess we can implement Navteq maps out of the box now.

It comes with a score carding application to define Business Rules & Work flows.

I always felt we lacked the report indexing or report search feature which is awesome now in OBIEE 11 g.

Custom Views.

Searching meta data is awesome.

Content Indexing and Strategy maps.

cubes now from the aggregate persistence wizard to creat the aggregates.

It all seems good but I was wondering how one could migrate to the newer it seems there are lott of changes in the look  & feel & OOTB features we have to wait & watch to know.

I wonder it should have a OBIEE Repository RPD migration utility for sure.

I guess we can auto generate Essabase  & OLAP

Enable OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1 Analytical Functions

In one of my recent projects we were using Oracle Analytical functions such as Lead, lag, Model & more, to enable this functions in OBIEE the work around seems to be to modify the NQ Config under the Cube Views section this will enable the analytic SQl .

OBIEE Governor Exceeded Limit & Workaround

This is a recommended work around for the governor exceeded limit error in a pivot table you just need to edit the instanceconfig.xm & bounce the server after editing the following XML tags.
<CubeMaxRecords>40000</CubeMaxRecords>
<CubeMaxPopulatedCells>150000</CubeMaxPopulatedCells>

I’ve also seen that using excluded columns with a dummy column works too.

OBIEE Time Chart Percentage Behavior

Am currently working on a requirement wherein the Client wants to see an Chart based on Percentages, this is a major advantage in upcoming  OBIEE Version 11.1.1 Release.

Seems like this is a Bug & would be resolved in OBIEE 11g major release.

Am pondering for a Workaround.

My Oracle Support Says:
Change request CR 12-IWEVPD “Charting of Pivots – Aggregation and Show As not used in Charting” has been logged to add this functionality in future versions of the product. Currently there is not workaround to chart pivot data in the format it is displayed in the pivot table (percentage of row instead of raw data).

OBIEE 10.1.3.4 Presentation Services Crash

Recently I have seen with some of our clients that they are having issues with OBIEE 10.1.3.4 presentation services being crashed when using a pivot table view.

This seems to be a bug thanks to my friend John who has informed about the bug & Oracle has come up with an excellent OBIEE 10.1.3.4 patch set to solve this issue.
